It s a code compliant structural wood screw engineered to fasten a deck ledger board to the rim joist of a house with no pre drilling.
Attach an awning ledger board to a house.
Locate a position for a header or ledger board.
Make it the full.
On site the first board would be positioned within 1 2 from the wall flashing.
My approach is to apply a self adhering self sealing membrane to the wall where the ledger will be installed that extends at least an inch above the top of the ledger two inches below and four inches past the ends.
Determine how high it must be to provide an adequate slope to the roof.
These replace lag screws and through bolts have been coated with a proprietary three step coating process that protects against corrosion even in pressure treated wood and are acq approved.
Attach 2x6 rafters to the house with joist hangers and or supported by the ledger board.
If necessary use a sliding bevel to determine angles needed where the rafters will meet the ledger board.
1 2 carriage or cap bolts.
Remove the shingles or siding in the area identified for the header board.
If it is impossible to attach the ledger to a floor joist then fasten the ledger to wall studs which are generally located on 16 inch or sometimes 24 inch centers and doubled up around doors windows and other openings.
Rafters are placed on 24 centers and attached to the beams and settle joists are attached as needed image 1.
Temporarily nail or brace the ledger in place positioned and leveled at the desired height.
