Now hook the black pull strap on the awning with your awning rod and pull the strap straight out. To open your rv awning first squeeze the support tabs on the awning which will release the travel locks. This will give you room to work. Use the manual override if the motor is completely dead.

Tie the awning arms off to the bracket where it attaches to the side of your rv. Pull the support arm to release the ratchet attached to the other end of the lever. This technique works whether the awning is open or rolled up. Some electric systems have a spring on the rear side of the awning if it is really long but this will make it harder to go out not in. If you are lucky you may just have a poor electrical connection. My mh is only a few years old and already the motor only functions intermittently.
